The purpose of the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home Memorial Forest is to provide an opportunity to commemorate the life of a loved one. New trees symbolize new life and a new beginning. A tree planted in the Graham Giddy Memorial Forest is not only a symbol of hope but a movement towards greater environmental conscientiousness. The funeral home will plant one tree for each individual whose arrangements have been entrusted to our firm. The Funeral Home bears all costs related to this program as part of our continuing care program.
On June 21st 2009 we planted 150 trees on the grounds of the new Wellington Terrace, which is located at 474 Wellington Rd. 18 (between Fergus & Elora). We worked closely with the Administrator of Wellington Terrace, Peter Barnes, and Rob Johnson of "The Green Legacy Program". The trees were planted by students of a local school as part of their school program.
The 2010 planting will be coordinated with the Elora Cataract Trailway Association. The Elora Cataract Trailway is a trailway that connects the Credit Valley Watershed with the Grand River Watershed and communities along the way. A Commemorative Bench will be installed to mark the occasion and to provide rest for those using the trail.
